Vodafone extends unlimited data offer for NHS and makes care workers eligible

Vodafone extends unlimited data offer for NHS and makes care workers eligible

NHS workers and vulnerable customers can now enjoy unlimited mobile data on Vodafone free for six months. The UK’s care workers are also now eligible to claim the offer. This extension follows Vodafone’s original offer, announced on April 6, of 30 days’ unlimited free data for NHS staff, vulnerable customers and half a million Pay Monthly customers.

Care workers who are Vodafone Pay Monthly customers can redeem the unlimited data offer by going to our website and entering their employer’s name and address as well as their email address. Anyone working for the NHS, but who isn’t registered as such with Vodafone, will need to enter their NHS email address. Once the details are verified, they will be automatically upgraded to the offer and notified. As before, Vodafone will be automatically provisioning the Pay Monthly customers it has listed as working for the NHS or flagged as vulnerable in its systems. These customers will be informed by text message.

The offer of free unlimited mobile data will be valid for six months from the date of redemption. Vodafone will provision all NHS staff applications and the first 250,000 care workers who apply. The offer will be open until 6th June 2020, which means eligible applicants could be benefiting from unlimited free data until 5th December.

Vodafone UK Chief Executive Officer Nick Jeffery said: “We are so pleased to be able to extend our original offer for NHS workers and our vulnerable customers, and to be able to now add care workers in recognition of the amazing contribution they’re making at this time. We will continue to do what we can to say thank you to those on the front lines doing such valuable work in this crisis.”

About Vodafone UK

Vodafone UK is a technology communications company that connects people, businesses and devices to help our customers benefit from digital innovation. Our services span mobile, fixed-line connections, home and office broadband, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

We have a strong track record as a tech pioneer, making the UK’s first mobile phone call, sending the first text message, and making the UK’s first live holographic call using 5G in 2018. We were also the first to start carrying live 5G traffic from a site in Salford, Greater Manchester. As of June 2021, we have 5G in 364 locations across Europe – 124 in the UK and 240 across Germany, Spain, Italy and Ireland. Our 4G network coverage currently reaches over 99% of the UK population.

Today, Vodafone serves more than 18 million mobile and fixed-line customers in the UK. To help deliver Gigabit UK, our full-fibre broadband roll-out programme now covers 24 UK towns and cities, rising to 34 over the coming months, through partnerships with CityFibre and Openreach. By spring 2022, our target is to make full fibre services available to more than eight million homes across the UK.

Sustainability is also at the heart of what we do: as of 1 July 2021, 100% of the grid electricity we use in the UK is certified to be from renewable sources.
