Vodafone launches 5G for all Pay As You Go customers

Vodafone launches 5G for all Pay As You Go customers
  • Vodafone launches contract-free 5G for Pay As You Go customers on the UK’s best mobile network
  • Customers can enjoy unlimited data and access to 5G in more places across Europe than any other operator
  • 5G with Vodafone comes at no extra cost

Today, Vodafone has launched 5G and unlimited data to all Pay As You Go (PAYG) customers. The new offering is perfect for customers who want the flexibility of a contract-free SIM, or for people travelling to the UK who want to benefit from speeds up to 10 times faster than 4G. Those who want to take advantage of 5G can enjoy benefits such as downloading music, streaming movies and mobile gaming faster than ever before, with no lag or dropout.

Vodafone offers 5G at no additional cost and customers can enjoy unlimited data and access to 5G in more places across the UK and Europe than any other operator. Vodafone is the only UK network to offer 5G roaming – meaning PAYG customers who already have a 5G smartphone can now take advantage of this exclusive offering. For more information, please visit our website.

Furthermore, Vodafone has recently been named as the UK’s best mobile network by the independent testing company nPerf who measured download speed, upload speed, latency, browsing and streaming performance. nPerf’s testing showed that Vodafone had the highest combined score across all categories versus its competitors.

Vodafone UK Chief Executive Officer Nick Jeffery said: “We want to enable our customers to do what they want when they want – our Unlimited plans do just that. Launching a contract-free 5G Unlimited plan will give more people the opportunity to experience the next generation of speed and connectivity without being committed to a contract – giving them the power to be as flexible as they want.”

To take advantage of Vodafone’s 5G network, customers will need a 5G plan and 5G handset. PAYG customers have the choice of three top-of-the-range 5G handsets – Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, Huawei Mate 20X and Samsung Galaxy S10. PAYG customers who want 5G will get unlimited data, as well as speeds as fast as their phone allows with an introductory £40 Big Value Bundle worth £50.

Customers looking to take advantage of this offer can do so by visiting our website.

About Vodafone UK

Vodafone UK connects people, businesses and devices to help our customers benefit from digital innovation. Our services span mobile, fixed line connections, home and office broadband and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Having made the UK’s first mobile phone call and sent the first text message, Vodafone has a history as a tech pioneer. In 2018 we made the UK’s first live holographic call using 5G, and were first to start carrying live 5G traffic from a site in Salford, Greater Manchester. We now have 5G in more places than anyone else, with multiple locations now live across the UK and the rest of Europe.

Today we serve more than 18 million mobile and fixed line customers in the UK, with 4G network coverage at 99%.  Our customers voted us the UK’s Best Mobile Network at the 2018 Trusted Reviews Awards – for the second year in a row. To help deliver Gigabit UK, our full-fibre broadband roll-out programme now covers 15 UK towns and cities through partnerships with CityFibre and Openreach.

Connectivity is at the heart of what we do as it gives us a huge opportunity for good. We are using our network, products, talents and technology to help society prosper and respond to significant social and environmental issues.  Our free Digital Parenting magazine is helping families and schools across the UK to navigate the online world safely. Meanwhile, the Vodafone Foundation’s work with researchers at Imperial College is developing personalised cancer treatment using the processing power of smartphones.

We are part of Vodafone Group, one of the world’s largest technology communications companies, with mobile operations in 26 countries, partnerships with mobile networks in 55 more, and fixed broadband operations in 19 markets.  As of 30 September 2019, Vodafone Group had approximately 625 million mobile customers, 27 million fixed broadband customers, and 22 million TV customers – including all of the customers in Vodafone’s joint ventures and associates.
