Vodafone expands entertainment offering with addition of Amazon Prime and YouTube Premium

Vodafone expands entertainment offering with addition of Amazon Prime and YouTube Premium
  • Vodafone is the first UK operator to offer customers the choice of Amazon Prime’s full suite of benefits or YouTube Premium as part of a mobile plan.
  • Unlimited and Unlimited Max customers can enjoy entertainment packages without having to worry about data limits on the UK’s best mobile data network.
  • Prices start from as little as £22 per month on a SIM-only plan with unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 5GB of data.

Vodafone has teamed up with Amazon Prime and YouTube Premium to add to its already compelling portfolio of entertainment partners, which includes Spotify Premium, Now TV Entertainment Pass and Sky Sports Mobile TV.  Vodafone is the first UK operator to offer customers the choice of Amazon Prime or YouTube Premium as part of a mobile plan.

Amazon Prime members can stream thousands of movies, TV shows and award-winning Amazon Originals on Prime Video, and also have access to Prime Reading and Amazon Music on the UK’s best mobile data network.  This includes the incredibly popular Amazon Original Series Hunters, The Boys, and The Grand Tour.

Prime Video offers customers a vast collection of TV shows, movies, sport and more — all available to watch on practically any device. Customers can watch at home or on-the-go with a choice of hundreds of compatible devices.

Prime members also receive unlimited free delivery on eligible items and exclusive access to deals, discounts, as well as other perks such as Prime Now and Prime Wardrobe, where they can try before you buy with free and easy returns.

They also get access to Twitch Prime which includes game content, a Twitch channel subscription and a collection of games every month.

Existing Vodafone entertainment customers that had previously selected Amazon Prime Video and have more than three months of membership left will be automatically upgraded to the full Amazon Prime offering for the remaining period of their contract.

Vodafone customers that select YouTube Premium as their entertainment partner will enjoy ad-free and uninterrupted videos and music, so they can stream their heart out.  Viewers will also be able to download their favourite videos to watch offline whilst they are on-the-go.

For those that enjoy multi-tasking whilst on their devices, YouTube Premium will continue playing content when customers are using other apps or if their screen is turned off.

Plus, customers will also get access to YouTube Music Premium and YouTube Kids app – a more contained environment that makes it simpler and more fun for children to explore on their own.

Vodafone customers will now be able to enjoy the benefits of either Amazon Prime or YouTube Premium from as little as £22 per month on a SIM-only plan with unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 5GB of data.

Those that select an Unlimited Max plan can enjoy unlimited data and access to 5G in more places across Europe than any other UK operator (great for when the time comes to travel again). Customers who select an entertainment plan will get 100 UK to EU minutes included so they can keep in touch with friends and family across Europe.

Vodafone customers on SoHo (small office/home office) or SME (Small-to-Medium-sized Enterprise) tariffs are also eligible to enjoy both Amazon Prime or YouTube Premium (or any of the other partners) as part of the entertainment offering.

Max Taylor, Consumer Director at Vodafone UK, said:” Keeping our customers connected to the people and things that they love the most is our number one priority.  That is why we are delighted to be the first UK operator to give our customers access to Amazon Prime and YouTube Premium as part of their mobile plan.

“It means they can watch their favourite films, shows and videos, listen to their favourite music and do their online shopping, whenever and wherever on the UK’s best mobile data network”.

Lisa Leung, Director, Head of Prime at Amazon.co.uk, said: “We are delighted to offer Vodafone customers Amazon Prime membership for the duration of their contract. Amazon Prime provides the best of shopping and entertainment from Amazon; making lives easier, convenient and fun.

“Built on the foundation of unlimited, fast delivery and extended to offer a full range of entertainment options – Prime was designed to make members lives better every single day. Now, with a range of exciting benefits for everyone, we look forward to making Prime accessible to more members across the UK.”

Heather Rivera, Vice President and Global Head of Product Partnerships at YouTube, said: “We are so pleased to be working with Vodafone to give their customers the choice of YouTube Premium with their subscription.

“With YouTube Premium, people can enjoy an ad-free version of both YouTube and YouTube Music and get access to great functionalities like background play and download.

“Thanks to Vodafone for this great partnership, and we look forward to giving the best of YouTube to more people across the UK.”

From today, new and upgrading customers with entertainment plans will be able to select Amazon Prime or YouTube Premium as an option, alongside Spotify Premium, NOW TV Entertainment Pass and Sky Sports Mobile TV.

Any existing entertainment customers who are yet to choose their content partner will also be able to do so too.  Customers looking for further information can do so by visiting our website.

Having made the UK’s first mobile phone call and sent the first text message, Vodafone has a history as a tech pioneer. In 2018 we made the UK’s first live holographic call using 5G, and were first to start carrying live 5G traffic from a site in Salford, Greater Manchester. We now have 5G in more places than anyone else, with multiple locations now live across the UK and the rest of Europe.

Today we serve more than 18 million mobile and fixed line customers in the UK, with 4G network coverage at 99%.  Our customers voted us the UK’s Best Mobile Network at the 2018 Trusted Reviews Awards – for the second year in a row. To help deliver Gigabit UK, our full-fibre broadband roll-out programme now covers 15 UK towns and cities through partnerships with CityFibre and Openreach.

Connectivity is at the heart of what we do as it gives us a huge opportunity for good. We are using our network, products, talents and technology to help society prosper and respond to significant social and environmental issues.  Our free Digital Parenting magazine is helping families and schools across the UK to navigate the online world safely. Meanwhile, the Vodafone Foundation’s work with researchers at Imperial College is developing personalised cancer treatment using the processing power of smartphones.

We are part of Vodafone Group, one of the world’s largest technology communications companies, with mobile operations in 26 countries, partnerships with mobile networks in 55 more, and fixed broadband operations in 19 markets.  As of 30 September 2019, Vodafone Group had approximately 625 million mobile customers, 27 million fixed broadband customers, and 22 million TV customers – including all of the customers in Vodafone’s joint ventures and associates.
