MORE CHANCES TO BOAST ‘I’M ON HOLIDAY’ AS VODAFONE LAUNCHES EUROTRAVELLER ON PAY AS YOU GO

MORE CHANCES TO BOAST ‘I’M ON HOLIDAY’ AS VODAFONE LAUNCHES EUROTRAVELLER ON PAY AS YOU GO
  • Vodafone UK launches EuroTraveller on Pay as you go on 21 July 2014
  • Take your UK minutes, texts and 100MB of data for just £2 extra a day when travelling in Europe this summer

Vodafone UK’s Pay as you go customers visiting Europe will be able to spend more time talking, texting and surfing the web. From 21 July 2014, customers can opt into Vodafone EuroTraveller on Pay as you go and use their existing UK price plan of voice minutes, texts along with 100MB of data, when they are travelling in our Europe zone, for a special offer price of just £2* a day.

Pay as you go customers can opt-in for no extra charge and will only pay for the days they use their mobile abroad. They can continue to use their chosen Vodafone Freebee pack or Extras** just like they do at home and will not be charged a penny to receive calls and texts.

Vodafone UK was one of the first to launch a spending cap on data when using your phone anywhere in the world, meaning all customers can surf the web anywhere in the world, safe in the knowledge they will not run up an expectedly large bill. The good news is any customer using Vodafone EuroTraveller on Pay as you go will receive a free text alert when they are near to their 100MB data limit so they know how much they have spent. They will also be covered by our data spending cap which mean once they hit our monthly £41.29 limit they will not be able to
use their mobile internet overseas unless they text STOP to 40209 or call customer services on 191 from their Pay as you go mobile.

Now there’s no excuse not to keep in touch whilst you’re away. For further information on Vodafone’s offerings whilst travelling abroad visit vodafone.co.uk/goingabroad

ONE LAST THING – HELP AND TIPS BEFORE YOU LEAVE
Getting set up – Some phones are automatically barred from working abroad. Customers should always call 191 to make sure their phone will work when abroad.
Getting your voicemail – Listening to voicemail whilst abroad is easy but customers will need to set a security code before they go. Just call 121, then select 4, then 2. Accessing voicemail whilst abroad is charged at your standard rate for calling the UK.
Finding out costs – To check what the cost will be to make and receive calls and texts when abroad, text FROM followed by the name of the country (e.g. FROM SPAIN) to 4636.

About Vodafone UK

Vodafone UK connects people, businesses and devices to help our customers benefit from digital innovation. Our services span mobile, fixed line connections, home and office broadband and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Having made the UK’s first mobile phone call and sent the first text message, Vodafone has a history as a tech pioneer. In 2018 we made the UK’s first live holographic call using 5G, and were first to start carrying live 5G traffic from a site in Salford, Greater Manchester. We now have 5G in more places than anyone else, with multiple locations now live across the UK and the rest of Europe.

Today we serve more than 18 million mobile and fixed line customers in the UK, with 4G network coverage at 99%.  Our customers voted us the UK’s Best Mobile Network at the 2018 Trusted Reviews Awards – for the second year in a row. To help deliver Gigabit UK, our full-fibre broadband roll-out programme now covers 15 UK towns and cities through partnerships with CityFibre and Openreach.

Connectivity is at the heart of what we do as it gives us a huge opportunity for good. We are using our network, products, talents and technology to help society prosper and respond to significant social and environmental issues.  Our free Digital Parenting magazine is helping families and schools across the UK to navigate the online world safely. Meanwhile, the Vodafone Foundation’s work with researchers at Imperial College is developing personalised cancer treatment using the processing power of smartphones.

We are part of Vodafone Group, one of the world’s largest technology communications companies, with mobile operations in 26 countries, partnerships with mobile networks in 55 more, and fixed broadband operations in 19 markets.  As of 30 September 2019, Vodafone Group had approximately 625 million mobile customers, 27 million fixed broadband customers, and 22 million TV customers – including all of the customers in Vodafone’s joint ventures and associates.
