Vodafone launches the Great British Broadband Switch

  • Vodafone launches The Great British Broadband Switch to highlight that out-of-contract broadband customers could save money by switching to a new broadband deal.
  • Ofcom estimates a staggering 8.8 million UK broadband customers are out of contract and could make significant savings by switching to a new deal, potentially saving up to £228.
  • With prices starting at £21.95 for Superfast Broadband, or £18.95 for existing Mobile Pay Monthly customers, we’re confident we can help put money back in customers’ pockets.

Vodafone is championing fairer pricing for broadband customers across the UK with the launch of The Great British Broadband Switch. Starting today, the campaign aims to raise awareness that UK households could save money by switching to a new broadband deal if they are out of contract. Ofcom estimates there are more than eight million households in the UK that are out of contract and they could save on average £9 – £10 per month, or £228 over the life of a contract.

In line with this, Vodafone is proud to offer our award-winning unlimited Superfast Broadband from as little as £21.95 a month. Even better, with Vodafone Together existing Pay Monthly customers on 18-month contracts can enjoy market-leading unlimited Superfast Broadband prices from £18.95, which includes our stay connected promise to ensure you’re never without connection. For an additional £8 per month customers can upgrade to our Superfast Extra plan which adds Apple TV 4K on us (including an Apple TV+ subscription for 12 months) and unlimited anytime calls to UK landline and mobiles.

Switching is simple, our Easy Switch Team will take care of all the hard work, finding you the right package, and then doing all the heavy lifting to get you switched over from your old provider. All customers will receive our recently launched powerful new router and a handy app to help control their Wi-Fi. What’s more, we are currently upgrading all our customer’s routers with intelligent Wi-Fi. This cleverly scans the home and optimises the Wi-Fi signal to give customers the best speed based on their unique home environment.

Vodafone is also on a mission to bring faster broadband to the UK. We’re already rolling out our Gigafast full-fibre home broadband with up to gigabit speeds, and will be bringing it to three major cities this summer alongside our brilliant 5G network.

Max Taylor, Consumer Director at Vodafone UK says: “We are launching the Great British Broadband Switch to help the 8.8 million homes across the country realise they can switch their broadband provider and save up to £228. We think UK households are paying £1bn per year they don’t need to.”

We have a strong track record as a tech pioneer, making the UK’s first mobile phone call, sending the first text message, and making the UK’s first live holographic call using 5G in 2018. We were the first to start carrying live 5G traffic from a site in Salford, Greater Manchester and now have 5G in locations across Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain as well as the UK. Meanwhile, our 4G network coverage currently reaches over 99% of the UK population.

Today, Vodafone serves more than 18 million mobile and fixed-line customers in the UK. Vodafone is the largest provider of full fibre in the UK – our superfast broadband services are now available to nearly 12 million homes across the UK.

Sustainability is also at the heart of what we do: as of 1 July 2021, 100% of the grid electricity we use in the UK is certified to be from renewable sources.
