Keeping the UK connected is more important than ever during this health crisis, so over the next three months Vodafone will be applying Wi-Fi Calling to the remaining customers yet to receive the service.
Millions of eligible Vodafone customers – more than 80% – have already had Wi-Fi Calling available to them since we began rolling it out a few months ago. Now the remaining customers are set to benefit as well.
What is Wi-Fi calling?
Wi-Fi Calling lets you make and receive calls anywhere you have a Wi-Fi connection – whether that’s at home or on the move. For those who live in rural areas or have network blackspots at home, this could be a useful way to keep in touch with family, friends or work colleagues.
Using Wi-Fi Calling is very similar to making normal calls over 4G, but instead of using the mobile network it uses the internet. It means you can make calls using your standard address book and phone number, and the person receiving your call doesn’t need to have the service in order to answer it.
There’s no additional charge for using the Wi-Fi Calling service – all the calls you make will come out of your monthly plan’s minute allowance.
How do you use it?
First of all, you’ll need to make sure you have a smartphone that’s compatible with Wi-Fi Calling – check here to see if yours is eligible here.
