The Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are becoming an increasingly essential tool for businesses looking to digitise.

At Vodafone, we want to make IoT a reality for organisations today. We are working on a range of IoT solutions, all designed to tackle specific business challenges and to provide the return that organisations look for when investing.

In fact, we’ve introduced two ‘digital building’ solutions. Both use Vodafone’s expertise in connectivity and technology to help businesses ensure space, resources and costs are optimised.

Driving efficiencies with IoT

A growing number of organisations are looking to IoT to create safer, greener spaces. Indeed, the number of IoT connections in digital buildings is forecast to increase from 0.1 million in 2016 to 2.1 million in 2024.[i] To meet this business need, we offer two packages.

With the Building Surveillance solution, customers can turn existing CCTV cameras into an intelligent cloud-based system that uses visual data to provide new business insights. As it works with existing CCTV equipment, applying IoT in this way is a great example of how the benefits of digitalisation can be made accessible without having to make huge investments or tear out old systems.

We also offer a Building Energy Management solution that integrates critical energy and environmental systems – such as lighting, air conditioning, refrigeration and heating – into a single Cloud platform that can be managed from anywhere, and on multiple devices.  This enables customers to optimise how systems are used to save energy, reduce costs and improve operational efficiency. This is incredibly important, considering that buildings are responsible for 40% of energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions in the EU. And, of course, energy efficiency buildings are less expensive to run.

There are many different approaches to building and site management. What makes Vodafone Digital Buildings different is that it keeps things simple, and works with the infrastructure customers already have.

Each of these solutions gives new visibility, understanding and control for organisations – helping to making places and processes smarter.
